Precarity
in development
Synopsis
Precarity is an assemblage film shaped around three interwoven dimensions: existence, knowledge, and encounter. It follows a linguist, a disappearing language, and the fragile relations that bind them. Filmed between 2009 and 2023 across Ethiopia, Sicily, and Southeast Asia, the film moves between fieldwork and family life, analysis and intimacy, ambition and exhaustion.
A speech of origin circulates between voices, recording devices, and computer screens; a dictionary is both welcomed and resisted; lives persist quietly under unstable conditions. Rather than offering resolution, the film attends to precarity as a shared state, where existence endures, knowledge remains incomplete, and encounters unfold without guarantee.
